Welcome To The Show....We Call Church

These days churches are looking more and more like a circus act that you might find in Vegas. In order to be relevant in this culture, many people believe we must take a cue from the world. Pastors are going for the dramatic--you gotta look like the world to draw 'em mentality. When I hear the words, epic, life changing, radical in association to any church a shiver goes down my spine--(I avoid such churches). These are the same people who've coined the phrase "Jesus was a rebel", which gives them the green light & justification for shallow, man centered, theatrical, circus like shenanigans. My question is--was Jesus truly a rebel (our definition of rebel)? In order to answer that question, let's look at a few truths about who Jesus was & still is:

  • Jesus called out the Pharisees--those who had a form of godliness, but denied Him--they honored God with their lips, but their hearts were far from Him..they were the religious.
  • He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Isiah 53:2
  • He reached out to the "least of these"--the outcasts--rejected. He loved them, broke bread with them--but was never influenced by them---He influenced them.
  • He demanded repentance--he demanded that we deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him. Sadly, many couldn't do that--because they loved the world too much.
  • Jesus never once compromised Himself to be relevant to the world-- He never took on the identity of the world, he demanded that we take on His identity.
  • He called sinners to repentance--for the Kingdom of God is at hand.
Acts 2:42-47 "42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common.45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."

In summary: The profession of their faith was in their actions, their devotion, their love for Christ, so much so that people were drawn to them--not by theatrics and pony shows--but by them actually walking the walk.

John 13:35 Jesus says:

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

None of the Apostles drew anything from the world--They looked nothing like the world. People are craving the truth--their tiered of the dog and pony shows--religious self seeking hypocrites who serve no other purpose than to tear the body of Christ apart, the people of God are tiered of the religious looking the part and not acting the part, the people of God are tiered of seeker sensitive churches and pastors, who are still on milk and not solid food. Tricks are for kids!

Sis. Evette, now you know...LOL! I was pumping my fist in the air reading this, I truly was. I don't mean to comment on every post, but when you agree with something you have to throw in an AMEN! It seems like it is so easy for people to forget that we are told by Paul to be followers of him as he follows Christ, and that Christ was his model in all thing! (1 Cor. 11). I am so glad that God has opened my eyes, and we just have to keep trying to reach other. Bless you sister, and I love the new look of the page!

Thank u sister! You can comment anytime. All of this seeker sensitive junk kills me. It's so true, the body needs to get back to the basics.

Trust me Sis, sites/blogs like these are making an impact! Through the links on our pages I can see the number of people who are visiting these blogs, and it is an impressive number. So many of God's children are looking for truth and finding it through Lil Ol' Sheep like us. The seeker ministries that you mention look for scripture to justify their actions or words, while the True church is justified through the Word. Jesus said that we would know each other by our fruit, so that is what I look at/for. If you ever make it to Georgia.... :)

I have family in Georgia. Would love to get together with you on one of our trips down to Georgia. I have a feeling we'd hit it off! :)

Well Written Sister Wagner. The church (not all of them but most of them) is just that a show. The worship is fake, the emotionalism is fake, the people are fake, and the leaders are not those called by God.

But they are prospering? Why?

Because they are offering sinners exactly what satan does:

The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Sinners can now go to "church" get their "praise" on and then go out and continue to be a sinner. The "pastors" do nothing about it but in reality the people don't want to hear correction anyways.

This was spoken about before:

"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths." 2 timothy 4:3-4

That time is now....

Thank you Brother Davision. Glad you finally got to stop by. And you are so right, too many people want to hear what makes them feel good, and too many pastor's are more than willing to give them what they want.

I told you I was coming lol. But you're right the fake Pastor's are more than willing to give them what their flesh desires....Just as long as the people continue to give them all their money.

I truly believe if there wasn't any money in being a religious leader most of these guys would be doing something else....lol

But to fulfill scripture this stuff must come to past....

Pastor Davision, I am glad that you wrote this: I truly believe if there wasn't any money in being a religious leader most of these guys would be doing something else... because that is what I consider these charlatans who lord over most of the mega-"successful" ministries. They are not Pastors, they are not Ministers of the Gospel, they are not called nor chosen. They are people with a gift of speaking, or to make it plain, motivational speakers. They motivate people, but not to the righteousness of God.

They can keep their spiritual leaders; I will take my true men of God who are still working a day (or night) job, or ones who are showing the fruit of the True Vine! Nice to see you here!

Good one Evette..
Truth in every way - mention stuff like this and you get 2 reactions most of the time:
1. You're right! Everybody else in the church is guilty except me
2. Who does this blowhard think they are?!?!?
I'd like to say thanks for bringin the Truth - I'm the only one I need to worry about and I'm the guilty one most of the time.
Thank God for Grace, Mercy and most of all - for Jesus.
God bless...
